Resumo(s)

Present study analyzes the water samples of 32 stations from Chennai coastal area over the period of 35 years (1980 to 2015). In this study “R programming” language was introduced to analyze the dispersion and concentrations of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), pH, temperature, nutrients (nitrate, nitrite and phosphate), turbidity and Chlorophyll (Chla). Analysis of water sample for the last three decades indicate that the concentration and dispersion of above parameters reached abnormal level and outstripped the allowable limit of International coastal cater water quality standards. Finally, the future water pollution levels of sampling stations are predicted by employing Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model and Exponential smoothing in R.
