O artigo que é apresentado em seguida centra-se na exposição genérica das técnicas e dos estilos de desenho e pintura encontrados na iluminura do M.S.A. 1 da Crónica Geral de Espanha de 1344 da Academia das Ciências de Lisboa que não só os definem como os relacionam com a existência de três mãos distintas participantes no trabalho ornamental. Antes disso falamos brevemente do contexto gerador deste fabuloso texto cronístico medieval português de modo a clarificar o seu nascimento e as condições em que se propiciou o grande labor decorativo que encerra. Terminamos com o estudo particular da maior representação de uma igreja num manuscrito eminentemente secular como o M.S.A. 1 (nos seus intentos discursivos e decorativos) tentando perceber quais as semelhanças e diferenças entre a reprodução e a realidade do edifício no século XV, época à qual pertence a iluminura. The article below focuses primarily on setting out the generic techniques and styles of design and painting found in the M.S.A. 1 illuminations in the 1344 General Chronicle of Spain in the Lisbon Academy of Science collection and does not only define them but also interrelates them with the existence of three distinct participants in the ornamental working process. Prior to this, we shall briefly detail the context behind the creation of this fabulous Portuguese medieval chronistic text in order to duly clarify its origins and the conditions propitious to the great decorative labours required. We end this particular study on the great representation of the church in an eminently secular manuscript such as the M.S.A. 1 (with its discursive and decorative intents) and thereby attempting to ascertain the similarities and the differences between the reproduction and the prevailing 15th century realities, the period to which this illuminated manuscript belongs.
