Existem doenças tropicais de fácil diagnóstico para médicos que tenham exercido clínica nas províncias ultramarinas, mas que se tornam difíceis de diagnosticar para os médicos da metrópole.
Ao regressarem das províncias ultramarinas e do Brasil, muitos passageiros que viajam a bordo de navios nacionais podem sofrer de doenças tropicais.
Parece, portanto, que a assistência médica a bordo dos navios nacionais que fazem rota para as províncias ultramarinas e o Brasil deve ser prestada por médicos que possuam formação em Medicina Tropical, dando preferência àqueles que tenham trabalhado em serviços clínicos em países tropicais.
There are tropical diseases which the doctors who have treated patients in the Overseas territories are able to diagnose easily but which may give rise to great diagnostic difficulties to the doctors of the metropolis. On coming back from the Overseas territories and from Brazil a great number of passengers boarding the national ships may suffer from tropical diseases. Therefore it seems that medical assistance on board the national ships of the Overseas and Brazil lines must be given by graduated in Tropical Medicine physicians and those who have already treated patieints in tropics must be preferred.
