Este trabalho tem por objetivo principal trazer novos contributos para o conhecimento das condições de vida das classes populares da cidade de Lisboa, da sua alimentação e das dinâmicas da assistência alimentar na capital, entre os finais do século XIX e as primeiras décadas do século XX, através do caso das Cozinhas Económicas de Lisboa. Neste estudo serão analisados diversos tópicos, entre os quais os conceitos e modelos que estiveram na origem das cozinhas económicas, a constituição e administração destes estabelecimentos em Lisboa, o número e a composição das refeições dis-tribuídas. This work aims to provide new contributions to the understanding of the living conditions of the working classes in Lisbon, their diet, and the dynamics of food aid in the capital, between the late 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century, through the case of the Soup Kitchens of Lisbon. This study will analy-se various topics, including the concepts and models that led to the establishment of the Soup kitchens, the constitution and administration of these institutions in Lisbon, and the number and composition of the meals distributed.
