The Impact of Sustainable Energy Technologies Use

Given the current environmental problems, sustainable energy technologies are at the centre of many mitigation efforts, since they refer to energy solutions that help to monitor and manage household energy consumption. Although their adoption has been investigated in previous research, studies about their impact on humanistic outcomes, like well-being, are still very scarce. To fill this gap, this study aims to understand how the impact of sustainable technologies use on well-being may diverge according to different cultural factors. Therefore, a research model was created and tested using a sample of 1602 observations from four European countries. The work discerned a significantly positive impact of sustainable technologies use on perceived well-being, as well as moderation effects of uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, and indulgence on that relationship. The study provides valuable insights into the post-adoption stage of sustainable technologies, especially on how this can vary across different cultures.
