Anemias gravídicas em Cabo Verde (São Vicente)

Observaram-se 149 grávidas na população de S. Vicente de Cabo Verde, encontrando no grupo uma percentagem de 43,7% de anemias. Cerca de metade destas são hipocrómicas e sideropénicas. O restante grupo compreende casos de anemia dimórfica de Trowell ou de formas hipercrómicas. É de registar o aumento da cuprémia verificado mesmo nos casos em que não há baixa da siderémia para aquém dos limites inferiores do normal. Os resultantes encontrados são interpretados em face de um inquérito alimentar realizado por Meira naquela ilha e são preconizadas as medidas dietéticas e terapêuticas que permitirão combater com êxito um número tão elevado de anemias gravídicas.
Summary: 149 pregnant women have been studid among the population of the island of Saint Vicent in Cape Verde, 43,/% of cases of anemia having been reconognized within the group. About one half of these cases belong to the hypochromic and sideropenic form. The remnant are to be classed either among the dimorphic anemia of Trowell, or the hyperchromic forms of the pregnancy anemias. The increase of serum copper in cases in which the serum iron did not decrease below the lower normal level is to be pointed out. The results obtained have been interpreted in connection whith those of an alimentary inquest conducted in the same island by Meira and dietetic and prophylactic measures are stressed which will allow a succesful campaing against such a high rate of pregnacy anemias.
