A confrontação dos dados clínicos, biológicos, anatómicos e eletro-encefalográficos permitiram aos A. A. uma compreensão espacial e temporal, ou antes, topográfica e evolutiva, satisfatória da encefalite da tripanosomíase humana africana a T. Gambiense. No ponto de vista topográfico trata-se essencialmente duma encefalite do tronco cerebral, mais especialmente das formações pericavitárias. No ponto de vista evolutivo o processo encefalítico começa com a generalização da infestação. Tudo se passa em seguida como dois sistemas imunológicos evoluíssem paralelamente ou não.
On comparing the clinical, biological and anatomical and the electro-encephalographic data the authors obtained an ample and temporary or rather a topographical and an evolutionary comprehension, satisfactory of the enchephalitis of the human Africana trypanosomíasis by the T. Gambiense. It is essentially considered from a topographical point of view, an encephalitis of the brain stem, more specially of the pericavities formations. With regard to the evolutive of the encephalitic process this begins with the generalization of the infestation. Afterwards all occurs as if two immunologiacal systems have been developed parallely or not.
