A redacção do percurso vivencial dos mercadores italianos que no século XVI se encontravam na capital portuguesa nos conduziu para caminhos que, ao longo dos anos, se tornaram pistas de investigação e de estudo sobre o território português. A viagem na descoberta das quintas italianas que aqui se apresenta não é certamente exaustiva, e é importante sublinhar, desde já, que de algumas destas quintas temos ainda património visível, sendo que a presença de outras apenas está detectada através de descrições em documentos variados. The writing of the experiential path of the Italian merchants who were in the Portuguese capital in the 16th century led us to paths that, over the years, became clues for research and study about the Portuguese territory. The journey to discover the Italian farms presented here is certainly not exhaustive, and it is important to highlight, from the outset, that some of these farms still have visible heritage, while the presence of others is only detected through descriptions in various documents.
