" Nowadays, 537 million adults live with diabetes in the world, which caused
6.7 million deaths in 2021. In terms of health expenditure, there was a 316 %
increase over the last 15 years, reaching 966 billion dollars in 2021.
The term diabetes includes a variety of disorders and subgroup classifications
which are described as a metabolic disorder with high blood glucose and
insulin deficiency. The main forms of diabetes are type 1, type 2, and
gestational. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder, with progressive
destruction of β-cells and total arrest of insulin production, constituting about
10 % of all cases. Gestational diabetes is described as glucose intolerance
with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. (...)"
