"Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) is a cool-season legume crop with considerable economic importance as food, fodder, and forage, particularly in the developing nations of South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. This species is considered a promising source of calories and proteins. Given its resilience to adverse abiotic and biotic constraints, it has great potential for expansion in drought-prone and marginal areas. "
