Estudo sobre a aplicação da energia a vapor no sector agrícola, tendo em conta os resultados obtidos até 2016 pelo Projecto da Era do Vapor em Portugal, desenvolvido no âmbito do Instituto de História Contemporânea da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Aborda aparelhos, máquinas e ferramentas que, em Portugal, permitiram ampliar a força humana a partir de 1855. O autor considera que o conhecimento da energia a vapor nos campos é essencial para compreender o mundo que perdemos antes da industrialização, mas também o que ganhámos com as transformações sociais e culturais que daí nasceram. Study on the application of steam energy in agriculture, taking into account the results obtained until 2016 of the Projecto da Era do Vapor em Portugal – Project of the Steam Era in Portugal. This project was developed within the scope of the Institute of Contemporary History of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and deals with devices, machines and tools that strengthened the power of human beings from 1855. The author believes that knowing about steam energy on the fields is essential to understand the world we lost because of industrialisation, but also the one we gained due to the resulting social and cultural transformations.
