Este texto é sobre transformação da paisagem e seus impactos societais no Sul de Portugal. O enfoque empírico é centrado numa micro-região do Norte Alentejano, confinante com os concelhos de Alter do Chão e Crato. Apresentam-se aqui resultados preliminares de uma investigação (em curso) sobre memórias da ruralidade e(m) contextos de transformação paisagística motivados pela instalação no território de um olival (super)intensivo. A abordagem metodológica envolve pesquisa documental e pesquisa etnográfica exploratória. This text is about landscape transformation and its societal impacts in Southern Portugal. The empirical focus is centered on a micro-region of the North Alentejo, bordering the municipalities of Alter do Chão and Crato. The paper presents preliminary results of an (ongoing) investigation on memories of rurality and (m) contexts of landscape transformation motivated by the installation in the territory of a (super) intensive olive grove. The methodological approach involves documentary research and exploratory ethnographic research.
