L’auteur fait une étude de l’évolution de la mortalité aux îles du Cap-Vert pendant la période de 1950-1955.
Le taux de mortalité générale a progressivement diminué, ca ril étaìt de 17,6 en 1950 et de 12,4 en 1955.
Les plus importantes causes de mort pendant lapériode 1950-1955 ont été les suivantes: sénilité et causes mal définies ou inconnues (220,0); autres maladies de la première enfance et prématurité (213,3); gastrite, duodenite, entérite et colite, sauf diarrihée du nouveau-né (195,0); paludisme (194,2); autres maladies infectieuses et parasitaires (161,6); tuberculose, toutes formes (101,7); pneumonie (84,1); maladies cardio-vasculaìres (79,9); coqueluche (45,8); et syphilis et ses séquellee (85,7).
La mortalité infantile est três élevée: 50,6% de la mortalité totale est d’enfants jusq’à cinq ans. L’auteur termine son étude en indiquant quelques solutions concernant le combat de la mortalité générale et de la mortalité infantile.
The author has studied the evolution of the mortality in the Cape Verde Islands during the period 1950-1955. The general mortality rate has progressively decreased, so it being 17,6 in 1950 has decreased to 12,4 in 1955. The principal causes of the mortality during 1950-1955 were as follows: senility and ill-desfined and unknown causes (220,0); other diseases of the early ages and not specified premature diseases (213, 3); gastritis, duodenitis, enteritis and and colitis, except diarrhea of the new born (195,0); malaria (194,2); other infective and parasitic diseases (161,6); tuberculosis, all forms (101,7); pneumonia (84,1); diseases of the cardiovascular system (79,9); whooping cough (45,8) and syphilis and its sequelae (35,7). The infant mortality is rather high: 50,6% of the total mortality is referred to infants in the early 5 years. In the final part of the paper the author makes some suggestions for the control of the general mortality as well as of infant mortality.
