Nas últimas décadas, tem-se assistido a uma verdadeira reconceptualização do binómio animal/humano, desconfigurando-se os limites que desde sempre os separaram. Esta diluição de fronteiras tem-se tornado ainda mais problemática numa sociedade altamente mecanizada, na qual o progresso científico e as novas tecnologias revolucionaram a própria natureza e teoria do sujeito-animal. A emergência de uma robótica autónoma e das manipulações do ser vivo pela biotecnologia deram origem ao aparecimento de criaturas híbridas que tornam problemática a distinção entre o artificial e o natural, obrigando-nos a repensar o conceito de animalidade, bem como as nossas relações com o animal que, no contexto da hipermodernidade, se encontram sujeitas ao triângulo homem/animal/máquina. Pretende-se, neste trabalho, indagar a representação desta reconfiguração ontológica no plano da ficção, apoiando a nossa reflexão nas obras O ano de 1993, de José Saramago e Animalescos, de Gonçalo M. Tavares. In the last decades, a true conceptual reshaping of the binary relationship animal/human has taken place, challenging the boundaries that have always divided both poles. This blurring of borders has become increasingly problematic in a highly mechanized society in which scientific progress and new technologies have revolutionized both the theory and nature pertaining to the animalsubject. The emergence of autonomous robotics and life biotechnology manipulation have givenrise to the appearance of hybrid creatures that render the distinction between the natural and the artificial problematic, thereby forcing us to rethink the concept of animality, as well as our relations with the animal which, in the framework of hypermodernity, have been subject to the man/animal/machine triangle. In this article, we will shed some light on the fictional representation of this ontological paradigm shift, by drawing on novels by José Saramago (O ano de 1993) and Gonçalo M. Tavares (Animalescos).
