On the 10th of November of 1675, Diogo Rodrigues Marques (alias Abraham Rodrigues Marques) signed his last will. This Jewish merchant from Torre de Moncorvo who lived his last years in London and made fortune in the Indian diamond trade, bequeathed £ 1.000 to the Sephardic congregation of London. According to Marques’ will, it should be extracted £ 50 from the annual interest income of this value and applied to endow a poor orphan girl from the Jewish community every year. The donation of this amount, extracted every year from the so-called “Marques Fund”, was still taking place in the 20th century. In this article, I present a translation of Diogo Rodrigues Marques’ testament. In addition, I transcribe an extract of the Ascamot (bye-laws) of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Congregation of London published in 1754 concerning the regulation of the Marques fund. A 10 de Novembro de 1675, Diogo Rodrigues Marques (alias Abraham Rodrigues Marques) assinava as suas últimas vontades na cidade de Londres. Este mercador judeu natural de Torre de Moncorvo, que construiu fortuna sobretudo através do comércio de diamantes, deixou à congregação sefardita de Londres um legado no valor de 1.000 libras esterlinas, de cujos rendimentos 50 libras seriam destinadas anualmente para dotar uma órfã pobre da comunidade. A doação deste valor, extraído todos os anos do chamado “Fundo Marques”, ainda vigorava no século XX. Neste artigo, apresento a transcrição do testamento de Diogo Rodrigues Marques, ao qual acrescento um excerto das Ascamot da Congregação de Judeus Espanhóis e Portugueses de Londres, publicadas em 1754, referente ao regulamento do Fundo Marques.
