RESUMO - Este estudo tem como objectivo medir a eficiência com que
actuam os centros de saúde do Alentejo. Faz uma breve
referência ao conceito de eficiência técnica e ao modelo que
é aplicado — análise envolvente de dados (DEA). Os resultados
referem que 68,2% dos centros de saúde são ineficientes,
existindo, assim, uma margem de melhoria possível.
São determinadas as quantidades reais e óptimas de
inputs para que cada centro de saúde possa alcançar a
eficiência técnica.
ABSTRACT - The goal of this study is to measure the efficiency of the health centers of Alentejo. It makes a brief reference to the concept of technical efficiency and to the model applied — data envelopment analysis (DEA). The results refer that 68,2% of the health centers are inefficient, thus existing a margin of possible improvement. Real and optimal input amounts for each health center are determined in order to achieve technical efficiency.
