totalmente independentes.
ABSTRACT - The aim of our study was to diagnose and place the elderly population of our health center in one of three degrees of function and mobility. Ninety nine elderly patients answered our questionnaire. We defined their risk position and made a diagnosis of the degree of dependence. We define dependence as related to a person who, for any reason, has lost his self-autonomy and has a regular need for someonelse’s help or support. With this purpose we studied two variables: one classifying mobility and the other one the mental state. We concluded that 40.4 per cent were in grade III (very restricted mobility, bed-chair, several mental retardation, incapacitating illness present); 49.5 per cent in grade II (restricted movement, homebound, moderate degree of mental deterioration) and only 10 per cent were totaly independent (grade I).
