Promoção de saúde em AIDS : percepção de equipe escolar

RESUMO - O presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar percepções
de equipe escolar sobre as ações educativas de prevenção
da AIDS realizadas em unidades do sistema estadual de
ensino na cidade de São Paulo, Brasil. Realizou-se um
survey exploratório em amostra não probabilística. Utilizou-
se um questionário semiestruturado, aplicado por
entrevista a 24 profissionais que atuavam em escolas
públicas. Os resultados revelaram que estratégias mais
empregadas foram aulas e/ou palestras. Em apenas 83,3%
das unidades ocorreu avaliação das atividades desenvolvidas,
sendo o procedimento mais adotado a discussão entre
professores, coordenadores e diretores, sem a participação
dos alunos. As dificuldades mais apontadas foram a falta
de local apropriado (83,3%) e a preparação insuficiente da
equipe escolar para abordar o tema (83,3%). Quanto à
percepção sobre a eficácia das ações preventivas, foram
salientadas as características pessoais dos professores/
palestrantes e o interesse dos alunos pelo tema. As atividades
educativas de prevenção da AIDS não foram abordadas
de forma suficiente e nem em todas as escolas pesquisadas.
Aparentemente, existem restrições decorrentes da
falta de preparo e de segurança do pessoal de ensino na
abordagem desse tema, aliada às dificuldades estruturais
da escola e do meio sócio-cultural.
ABSTRACT - This paper aimed to identify the school team’s perception regarding education actions in AIDS prevention, in school units belonging to the state school system, in the city of São Paulo, state of São Paulo, Brasil. A exploratory survey in a non-probabilistic sample was conducted. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied by means of interview held with 24 professionals working in public schools. The results disclosed that classes and/or lectures were the most employed strategies. Only 83.3% of the school units underwent some kind of evaluation on the activities they developed. The informal debate held by teachers, coordinators and directors — without the students’ participation — was the procedure adopted by the majority. The absence of an appropriate place (83.3%) and insufficient training of the school team to talk about this subject (83.3%) were the mostly frequent difficulties that were pointed out. As to the perception relating to the efficacy of the preventive actions, the teachers’/lecturers’ personal characteristics and the students’ interest in the theme were emphasized as important factors. Educational activities related to AIDS prevention were not adequately discussed and neither were they object of study in all researched schools. Apparently, there was some limitation related to the lack of ability and assurance of those involved in developing this theme at schools, allied to school difficulties as far as structure and sociocultural environment are concerned.
