| dc.description.abstract | This exhibition, inaugurated on 14 October 2015, during the 2nd Portuguese-Brazilian Meeting on the History of Tropical Medicine, aimed at showing the heritage of this medical field. The items displayed in it came from the Museum Maximiano de Lemos (University of Porto), Museum of Health of the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge and the Museum of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (New University of Lisbon) and the historical collection of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Rio de Janeiro). In addition, this exhibition showed some objects belonging to private collections borrowed from families of researchers and doctors who worked in the former Portuguese African colonies, in the twentieth century. The exhibition “Tropics: knowledge and medical practices in the 20th century” was organized into nine thematic groups. This catalogue includes photographies of some objects with the aim of giving a general idea of the exhibition. | en |
