| dc.description.abstract | José Maria Grande, liberal convicto e agente mobilizador da resistência ao absolutismo, distinguiu-se ao comando de forças liberais e alcançou um lugar de relevo na política portuguesa das primeiras décadas da monarquia constitucional. Crente no potencial da ciência e da tecnologia como motor de desenvolvimento económico, foi um dos mais importantes defensores da modernização agrícola do país, tendo sido responsável pela criação da lei reguladora do ensino técnico agrícola e pela fundação do Instituto Agrícola, escola de que foi o seu primeiro diretor. | en |
