D. João IV envia carta a Manuel Saldanha, reitor
da Universidade de Coimbra, comunicando que
o Conde da Ericeira irá às comarcas de Coimbra
e Esgueira conduzir soldados fugidos e novos
recrutas militares, bem como comprar cavalos,
tendo em vista o reforço do exército no Alentejo, solicitando-lhe que o ajude e assista em tais
diligências.
14 May 1645, Lisbon King João IV sends a letter to Manuel Saldanha, dean of the University of Coimbra, informing him that the Count of Ericeira would travel to the counties of Coimbra and Esgueira to lead deserter soldiers and new military recruits, as well as to buy horses, in order to reinforce the army in Alentejo, and asking him to help and assist him in these endeavours.
