Os autores informam que com o estudo dos distritos de Moçambique, Cabo Delgado e Niassa, que se encontra em curso, termina a primeira fase dos trabalhos sobre o problema das bilharzioses em Moçambique, realizado pela Secção de Bilharzioses do Instituto de Investigação Médica.
A segunda fase dos trabalhos já iniciada, incidirá sobre os métodos de combate à endemia.
Com este intuito criou o I. I. M. “uma zona pilote” de combate da Bilharziose, na região de regadio do Vale do Limpopo, onde se está instalando um importante núcleo de colonização europeia.
Constituída a «zona pilote» terá como objectivo·-o estudo da acção e emprego de medicamentos curativos, o estudo de técnicas e diagnóstico, o estudo da acção, emprego e aplicação de moluscocidas.
The authors inform that with the studies they are realizing in Moçambique, Cabo Delgado and Niassa districts, the first part of the works about the problem of bilharziasis undertaken by the Bilharziasis Department of the lns-titute of Medical lnvestigation (Instituto de Investigação Médica) has terminated. The second part of the works, already initiated, will be for controling the endemic methods of the disease. The lnstitute of Medical lnvestigation established a pilot zone for combating the bilharziasis in the irrigated region of the Limpopo Valley (Vale do Limpopo), where an important centre of European whlte settlers is installed. The aim of the pilot zone will be the study of action and employment of curative drugs, technics and diagnosis studies; and the study of action, employment and application of molluscocides.
