Sobre a morfologia do schistosoma parasita dos bovídeos do Sul do Save

Depois de examinarmos os quadros adiante expostos, verificamos que se encontraram, tanto no comprimento dos vermes como nos diversos órgãos, medidas bastante distanciadas. Segundo a nossa opinião estas dimensões terão certamente relação com a idade dos vermes adultos, isto é, quanto mais velhos maiores
seriam as suas proporções, claro está, até um certo limite que seria o máximo - (para nós, por exemplo, o comprimento foi 19,600 mm) e, independente do hospedeiro.
Seguindo o critério de distinção de Van den Berghe, chegamos à conclusão de se tratar do Schistosoma bovis, pois: 1.º- pelas dimensões ·dos vermes verificamos que a largura destes correspondia aproximadamente a duas vezes a largura dum ovo ou era ligeiramente maior; 2.º - o ovário não é inteiramente cilíndrico e arredondado nas duas extremidades como o do Schistosoma matheei mas sim inicialmente alongado e terminalmente enrolado em espiral como o do Schistosoma bovis; 3.º - os ovos são fusiformes, com os bordos laterais côncavos adiante e atrás e a sua porção média convexa; 4.º - a relação entre o comprimento do cego único e o corpo do verme foi ligeiramente inferior à proporção 1 para 2.
Ainda pelas medições feitas, achados os desvios-padrão se pode concluir que os elementos menos variáveis, foram o comprimento do macho e da fêmea; a largura do macho o comprimento do seu esófago; o comprimento dos cegos intestinais tanto do macho como da fêmea e as distâncias entre o termo do cego nico
e a extremidade posterior do verme.
After having examined the foregoing tables, we find that there are differences in both length and sundry organs of the worms, which differences are quite far apart. According to our opinion these dimensions must surely have connection with the age of the adult worms, that is, the older it is, the larger the propositions, of course up to a certain limit, which would naturally be the maximum - (which for us, for instance, was 19,600 mm) and, independent of the host. Following the criterion of distinction of Van den Berghe, we arrived at the conclusion that it was of the Schistosoma bovis of which we are trea ting about, seeing that: 1) - from the dimensions of the worms, we have verified that the breadth of these corresponded to nearly twice of the length of an egg or was slightly bigger; 2) - the ovary is not entirely cylindrical and rounded at both extremities like the Schistosoma matheei but at first stretched in the beginning and terminating rolled up in a serpentine as the Schistosoma bovis; 3) - the eggs are fusiform with the lateral borders concave before and behind and its average portion convex; 4) - the relation between the length of intestinal ceca and the worm's body was slightly inferior to the portion of 1 to 2. Still from the measurements made, the pattern deviation being found, we may conclude that the least variable elements, were: the length of the male and the female ; the breadth of the male and the length of its esophagus; the length of the intestinal ceca both of the male and female and the distances between the blind singular en and the posterior extremity of the worm.
