| dc.description.abstract | El objetivo de este artículo es, por un lado, el análisis de todos los eclesiásticos involucrados en el servicio regio –a través de los registros de cancillería–, durante la “cuestión sucesoria”, identificando los que permanecieron leales a Alfonso X y los que lo fueron al infante Sancho entre 1282-1284. Por otro lado, se destacará el papel que jugó la Iglesia como institución en este período, en cuanto fue uno de los principales factores de estabilidad o inestabilidad en la estructura del reino. También se mostrará cómo los eclesiásticos conjugaron los intereses personales con sus obligaciones eclesiásticas. This paper will, on the one hand, search the chancellors’ records for all the ecclesiastics in the royal service of Alfonso X of Castile during the ‘succession debate’, and identify who among them remained loyal to King Alfonso and who to the infant of Castile, Don Sancho (1282-1284). On the other hand, it will underline the role that the Church played as an institution in the period, inasmuch as the power of the Church was one of the main factors influencing the stability or instability of the kingdom’s structure. It will also show how individual clerics dealt with their personal ambitions and ecclesiastical obligations. | en |
