Sob o patrocinio da Organização Mundial de Saúde e colaboração do Governo da Tailândia e da UNICEF (United Nations Children Emergency Fund) realizou-se em Bangkok, de 14 a 22 de Março de 1952, o 1.º "Symposium" Internacional de Luta contra as Boubas, a que se seguiu uma visita dos participantes do "Symposiuml" a uma província do Norte, a fim de observar o trabalho das equipes locais de recenseamento e tratamento de doentes de Boubas. Efectuaram-se ainda ulteriormente, em Ubol, visitas ao hospital regional e ao hospital de doenças mentais, onde gentilmente fomos recebidos pelos respectivos Directores daqueles estabelecimentos.
Under the auspices of the World Health Organization and with the collaboration of the Government of Thailand and UNICEF (United Nations Children's Emergency Fund), the 1st International Symposium on the Fight against Leprosy was held in Bangkok from March 14 to 22, 1952. to Combat Yaws, followed by a visit by the symposium participants to a northern province to observe the work of local teams conducting censuses and treating yaws patients. Subsequently, visits were made in Ubol to the regional hospital and the mental hospital, where we were kindly received by the respective directors of those establishments.
