Summary; After the study of several type specimens of ticks in collection in the Paris Museum of Natural History and in the British Museum (Natural History), we have come to the conclusion that the creation of some species was due to or based on label errors of the material. So: a) The species Amblyomma cyprium Koch & Neumann, 1899 and Amblyomma quasicyprium Rbinson, 1926 schould be considered as synonymous of Amvlyomma breviscutatum Neumann, 1899, tick which country is not África, it has admited (Neumann, 1899 and Robinson, 1926) but the "australian sub-region". b) The species Aponomma patagonicum, described by Schulze (1936) for a female supposed to be from Patagonie - but in reallity originary from África, due to the fact that it was contained in a tube together the type specimens of Aponomma laeve Neumann (= A. latum (Koch, 1844), of the Ethiopian Region - should not be considered as valid but as nomen nudum. This conclusion is a consequence of its defficient caracterisation and of the loss of the respective holotype, the comparasion of this with the other ornated species of afrian Aponomma therefore being not possible.
