The constant survey of documentary sources and the remarkable production of studies on Italian merchants in Lisbon in the 15th and 16th centuries facilitated a broader reflection that allows us to highlight some common traits in the Portuguese path of these foreigners in relation to their interaction with the court and society of the host country. Through the journey of renowned «Italian» merchants in the Portuguese capital, namely the commercial networks they interacted with, the benefits received by the Portuguese court and their relations with Portuguese society, a figure will be defined, that of the Italian Merchant active in Lisbon at the end of the 15th century until the middle of the 16th century.

Tendo em conta as novas abordagens que abriram e quebraram os alicerces da área da história diplomática na sua vertente mais técnica, tornandoa mais interdisciplinar nas suas abordagens e contemplando os âmbitos da história política, cultural, económica, é nosso propósito analisar, com base em fontes inéditas, a função diplomática desenvolvida pela princesa Maria Pia de Saboia, Rainha de Portugal, não apenas nas relações entre Portugal e Piemonte, mas nas relações entre Portugal e Itália. Esta abordagem só pode ser entendida e esclarecida se conhecermos o processo e a história da fundação da Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Loreto, da Nação Italiana, cujo arquivo guarda a documentação de cinco séculos de presença italiana em Lisboa.

Os eventos políticos ocorridos em Portugal nos anos 1578-80 catalizaram a atenção de todos os estados europeus, estando a ser detalhadamente estudados e avaliados pela República de Veneza que pôs em movimento a sua bem estruturada máquina diplomática. Dois embaixadores extraordinários, Vincenzo Tron e Girolamo Lippomani, foram enviados, acompanhados por um secretário, ao reino de Portugal com o objectivo de recolher informações e relatar a situação do país à beira do Atlântico. Entre 26 de Julho até 14 de Agosto de 1581, os dois diplomáticos venezianos ficaram em Lisboa e redigiram uma Relazione na qual anotaram as peculiaridades da capital portuguesa. The political events that occurred in Portugal in the years 1578-80 catalysed the attention of all European states, and were being thoroughly studied and evaluated by the Republic of Venice, which set in motion its well-structured diplomatic machinery. Two extraordinary ambassadors, Vincenzo Tron and Girolamo Lippomani, were sent, accompanied by a secretary, to the kingdom of Portugal in order to gather information and report on the situation in the country on the edge of the Atlantic. Between 26 July and 14 August 1581, the two Venetian diplomats stayed in Lisbon and drew up a Relazione in which they noted, with particular insight, the peculiarities of the Portuguese capital.
O Museu Difuso Numa Abordagem Interdisciplinar

O propósito deste texto é apresentar o conceito de Museu Difuso que tem como ponto de partida o modelo e a experiência italianas do Museo Diffuso (na zona da Valle del Liri ao longo da histórica linha ferroviária Roccasecca-Avezzano), e aplicá-lo ao contexto português no intuito de elaborar uma estratégia para preservar e desenvolver o território.O território escolhido é a Linha do Oeste o que logo nos remete para a presença de uma linha ferroviária. Será, de facto, a estação ferroviária - estrutura fulcral na vida das pequenas vilas (Bombarral, Óbidos e Caldas da Rainha) - a porta de entrada para a descoberta e conhecimento do território circundante. The purpose of this text is to present the concept of Museo Difuso (Diffuse Museum), which has as a starting point the Italian model and experience of the Museo Difuso (in the Valle del Liri area along the historical railway line Roccasecca-Avezzano) and apply it to the Portuguese context to elaborate a strategy to preserve and develop the territory.The territory chosen as the Linha do Oeste (West Line) immediately brings us back to the presence of a railway line. It will be, in fact, the railway station - the central structure in the life of small villages (Bombarral, Óbidos, and Caldas da Rainha) - the gateway to the discovery and knowledge of the surrounding territory.
