"Multimeric protein structures such as virus-like particles (VLPs) are
attractive vaccine modalities due to their safety and ability to present
target epitopes on their surface as repeated arrays, hence potentially
eliciting a robust and broad immune response. The emergence of new
viruses and virus strains raises the concern about new potential
pandemic outbreaks, thus urging the continued development of
production platforms capable of manufacturing high amounts of highquality
vaccines in short time frames and at low cost."
