Contributos da Língua e da Cultura Portuguesas para a integração de imigrantes e ex-imigrantes em Portugal

Abstract

A problemática dos refugiados é um tema cada vez mais recorrente e que traz consigo uma história que se arrasta há várias décadas. A Imigração e o Multiculturalismo estão cada vez mais presentes nas sociedades modernas e a gestão desta realidade representa um enorme desafio, tanto para as sociedades de acolhimento como para os próprios imigrantes. O tema, que me propus tratar e que constitui o centro desta dissertação, aborda uma realidade com a qual nos deparamos frequentemente: a crescente imigração forçada que contribui para uma maior diversidade cultural e interação entre as diferentes comunidades. O foco deste estudo é o grupo minoritário dos refugiados e a sua integração no país de acolhimento, neste caso Portugal, tanto a nível linguístico como cultural, enquanto cidadão e indivíduo da comunidade portuguesa. Este é um processo que envolve muitas mudanças, particularmente para os imigrantes. O país, a sociedade, os costumes, a cultura, as crenças, a língua, fazem parte de um conjunto de novas experiências e aprendizagens para o imigrante refugiado que, certamente, vão potenciar uma mudança identitária. Por outro lado, enquanto país de acolhimento, Portugal confronta-se com novos desafios de diversidade linguística e cultural. Procurei também, neste trabalho de investigação, perceber quais as mudanças ao nível da identidade provocadas pelo processo de imigração e de que modo atuam alguns elementos nessa mudança e no processo de integração, nomeadamente a língua – língua materna e língua de acolhimento. Assim, a pesquisa pretende dar a conhecer, além das políticas de integração do país, o “olhar” de quem vive na “primeira pessoa” essas políticas e o contacto com a sociedade de acolhimento, bem como o impacto causado sobre a mesma, recolhendo dados através de entrevista.

The problem of refugees is an increasingly recurring theme and brings with it a history that has been going on for several decades. Immigration and multiculturalism are increasingly present in modern societies and the management of this reality presents a huge challenge, both for the host societies and for the immigrants themselves. The theme I intended to address and which constitutes the focus of this dissertation, addresses a reality that we often face: the increasing forced immigration that contributes to a greater cultural diversity and interaction between different communities. The focus of this study is the minority group of refugees and their integration into the host country, in this case Portugal, both linguistically and culturally, as a citizen and individual of the Portuguese community. This process involves many changes, particularly for immigrants. The countries, society, customs, culture, beliefs, language, are part of a set of new experiences and learning for refugee immigrants that will certainly foster a change of identity. On the other hand, as a host country Portugal faces new challenges of linguistic and cultural diversity. In this research, I also looked for understand the changes in identity that are caused by the immigration process and in what ways some elements influence this change and the integration process, namely the mother tongue and the host language. In this way, the research intends to show, in addition to the integration policies of the country, the "look" of those who live in the "first person" these policies and the contact with the host society as well as the impact caused by it, collecting data through the interview.
