Dharma – O destino é de quem nele acredita escuta, observa e imortaliza os discursos
de vários membros da comunidade hindu de Portugal em torno do matrimónio.
Manifestando as suas posições relativamente ao tema, expressando os seus medos e
confessando os seus sonhos, abriu-se oportunidade para debater e refletir sobre um
assunto que de outra forma não seria estimulado. Através do documentário é possível
tornar o tema visível, assim como as pessoas que lhe dão corpo e que escolhem a sua
representação perante a possibilidade de uma audiência. A reflexão escrita que
acompanha o filme documental é um complemento que ajuda à compreensão de alguns
elementos que constam no produto audiovisual e que estabelece uma relação entre
dharma, destino e agencialidade. O principal objetivo deste trabalho de projeto é
compreender as vontades das várias gerações relativamente à sobrevivência das
tradições, mais especificamente no que diz respeito ao casamento, as estratégias usadas
para as preservar e para as romper.
Dharma – Fate is of whom in it believes listens, observes and immortalizes the speeches of several members of the Hindu Community of Portugal around marriage. Stating their positions towards the subject, expressing their fears and confessing their dreams, an opportunity came for them to discuss and reflect on a topic that would not be encouraged otherwise. Through the documentary it is possible to turn the issue into something visible, such as the people who give body to it, and who choose their own representation of themselves towards the possibility of an audience. The written part of the project which comes with the film is a supplement that helps on the understanding of some aspects contained on the audiovisual product, and where it is established a relation between the conceptions of dharma, destiny, and agency. The main aim of this project is to understand the wishes of the many generations concerning the survival of traditions, namely the marriage traditions, the strategies used to preserve them, and to break them.
