A reinterpretação constitui um tema transversal na história da arte, com particular visibilidade no campo da pintura. No caso dos auto-retratos, os processos de recontextualização partem, muitas vezes, dos próprios artistas e prologam-se no trabalho criativo de sucessivos autores. Com a crescente digitalização das colecções de museus de arte e as dinâmicas participativas das redes sociais, as possibilidades de reutilização criativa multiplicaram- se exponencialmente. Assim, quando se pesquisa uma obra de referência na Internet, a par das réplicas digitais tendem a surgir diversas propostas derivativas, criadas por artistas consagrados ou por outros autores. Neste cenário, o presente texto procura reflectir acerca da circulação online do Auto-Retrato [com casaco vermelho] de Aurélia de Souza (c. 1900) e da forma como o desdobramento da obra original em múltiplas imagens alternativas pode abrir novas perspectivas sobre o legado da artista e o seu rasto digital. Reinterpretation constitutes a transversal theme in art history, with particular visibility in the field of painting. In the case of self-portraits, the processes of re-contextualisation are often initiated by the artists themselves and continue through the creative work of successive authors. With the increasing digitisation of art museum collections and the participatory dynamics of social media, the possibilities for creative reuse have multiplied exponentially. Therefore, when searching for a reference work on the Internet, along with digital replicas, several derivative proposals tend to emerge, created by renowned artists or by other authors. In this scenario, this text seeks to reflect on the online circulation of Aurélia de Souza’s Self-Portrait [in a red coat] (c. 1900) and the way in which the unfolding of the original work into multiple alternative images may open new perspectives on the artist’s legacy and its digital trail.
