A Comunicação de teatro no jornalismo televisivo português: o caso da SIC

Abstract

Refletir sobre o Jornalismo Cultural produzido atualmente requer considerar as mudanças que o conceito de cultura tem sofrido ao longo dos tempos e para os quais as indústrias criativas contribuíram em grande escala. O presente relatório de estágio tem como objetivo analisar a forma como o teatro é noticiado num canal de televisão nacional. A pesquisa fundamentou-se em todas as notícias culturais veiculadas pelos dois principais noticiários da SIC, para, assim, enquadrar o campo artístico em estudo no contexto do jornalismo cultural produzido pelo canal. A análise decorreu durante um período de quatro meses, entre outubro de 2022 e janeiro de 2023. A metodologia utilizada foi mista, tendo sido usados para a análise métodos quantitativos (recolha de dados, criação de tabelas e gráficos) e qualitativos (interpretação de dados, observação participante e uma entrevista realizada a uma das coordenadoras do Jornal da Noite e editora de cultura). Para o estudo, foram avaliados 194 conteúdos culturais, dos quais apenas 9% se referiam ao teatro. Contudo, é importante salientar que, relativamente à produção artística, a área em questão é a quarta com maior criação de peças quando se analisam os conteúdos noticiados, ficando atrás da música, do cinema e das artes visuais. Sendo assim, pode perceber-se que, apesar de o teatro não estar bem visível na programação do canal, é percetível alguma presença nos dois telejornais e com certa variedade nos temas abordados.

Reflecting on the Cultural Journalism currently produced requires considering the changes that the concept of culture has undergone over time and to which the creative industries have greatly contributed. This internship report aims to analyze how theater is reported on a national television channel. The research was based on all the cultural news broadcasted by SIC's two main news programs, to frame the artistic field under study in the context of the cultural journalism produced by the channel. The analysis took place over a four-month period, between October 2022 and January 2023. The methodology used was mixed, with quantitative methods (data collection, creation of tables and graphs) and qualitative methods (data interpretation, participant observation, and an interview conducted with one of ‘Jornal da Noite’ coordinator and culture editor) being used for the analysis. For the study, 194 cultural contents were evaluated, of which only 9% referred to the theater. However, it is important to note that, regarding artistic production, the area in question is the fourth with the largest creation of pieces when analyzing the reported contents, behind music, cinema, and visual arts. Thus, although theater is not very visible in the channel's programming, some presence is perceptible in the two news programs and with a certain variety in the themes covered.
