Abstract: Nowadays, the word "startup" is widely used, and distinguishing between startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can be challenging. The motivation behind this thesis is to analyze the entrepreneurial and financial differences that set startups and SMEs apart. In particular, the paper focuses on Gabit S.r.l., a new organization. The goal of this dissertation is to answer the question: “Is Gabit S.r.l. a startup or an SME?”. After having performed the analysis of Gabit’s entrepreneurial journey and financial valuation all the results in this study point to the same conclusion: Gabit S.r.l. is a startup, not a SME.
