Património cultural e mediação digital em bibliotecas públicas: oportunidades e ameaças

Abstract

Partindo das premissas de que a participação pública nas questões do património cultural material e imaterial é a melhor estratégia para democratizar a sua fruição e capacidade de influenciar políticas relacionadas com a preservação desse património, e de que as bibliotecas públicas são importantes agentes na sua divulgação junto das comunidades de proximidade, bem como da irreversibilidade da transição digital, a questão de investigação focou-se nas oportunidades e ameaças que a mediação digital proporciona ao património cultural através das estratégias de comunicação desenvolvidas pelas bibliotecas públicas. A mediação digital pode ser definida como um conjunto de iniciativas para conectar, trocar e criar, criando oportunidades de vários tipos de interações digitais entre instituições e cidadãos, visando contribuir para a mudança social. A metodologia de investigação adotada foi a do estudo de caso, selecionando-se a Biblioteca de Alcântara, pertencente à rede de bibliotecas de Lisboa. Pretendeu-se conhecer e analisar a realidade da presença digital desta biblioteca, suas diversas condicionantes e seu potencial de divulgação do património de proximidade junto da comunidade envolvente, procurando-se a partir da análise destes dados formular propostas de trabalho nesta área. As principais conclusões e considerações finais a partir duma análise SWOT procuram responder à questão de investigação definida inicialmente, evitando generalizações do estudo de caso, mas realçando a partir deste o potencial dos contributos das bibliotecas públicas na promoção da cidadania patrimonial, através da transmissão e partilha de informação e conhecimento sobre o património de proximidade junto das comunidades envolventes, sensibilizando-as para a importância da participação cívica na sua fruição e preservação, melhorando o diálogo, a interação e as estratégias de comunicação, por forma a incrementar as oportunidades da mediação digital.

Based on the assumptions that public participation in the issues of tangible and intangible cultural heritage is the best strategy to democratize its enjoyment and ability to influence policies related to the preservation of this heritage, and that public libraries are important agents in its dissemination among the proximity communities, as well as the irreversibility of the digital transition, the research question focused on the opportunities and threats that digital mediation provides to cultural heritage through the communication strategies developed by public libraries. Digital mediation can be defined as a set of initiatives to connect, exchange and create, creating opportunities for various types of digital interactions between institutions and citizens, aiming to contribute to social change. The research methodology adopted was the case study, selecting the Alcântara Library, part of the Lisbon libraries network. The aim was to understand and analyze the reality of the digital presence of this library, its various constraints and its potential for disseminating the heritage of proximity to the surrounding community, seeking to formulate proposals for work in this area based on the analysis of these data. The main conclusions and final considerations from a SWOT analysis seek to answer the research question initially defined, avoiding generalizations of the case study, but highlighting from this the potential of the contributions of public libraries in promoting heritage citizenship, through the transmission and sharing of information and knowledge about the heritage of proximity with the surrounding communities, raising their awareness about the importance of civic participation in its enjoyment and preservation, improving dialogue, interaction and communication strategies, in order to increase the opportunities of digital mediation.
