Abstract

Considering that there is a relationship between language practices, gender, textual organization and linguistic constructions, our proposal seeks to demonstrate and to understand how this relationship of mutual influence or interdependence occurs, based on the analysis of a corpus of readers' comments on news in the online press. To that end, we have identified a very recurrent linguistic construction in the analyzed corpus, which, in syntactic terms, corresponds to a cleaved structure subtype, whose specificity and occurrence, because it is closely related to the informational structure of sentences, is said to depend on discursive factors (Lobo et al., 2015). These are constructions such as those underlined in the following sequences: 1. Estou farto desta classe... e sem resultados, vão é limpar floresta.... (Jorn_Expr_1; Marques Mendes defende aumento dos salários para governantes) I am fed up with this class ... and without results, you should instead clean the forest.... (Jorn_Expr_1; Marques Mendes defends salaries increase for governors) 2. Confirma-se: o dinheiro existe. Está é muito mal distribuído. (Jorn_Expr_5; Bruxelas paga reforma antecipada a Durão desde abril) It is confirmed: money exists. But it is very poorly distributed. (Jorn_Expr_5; Brussels pays early retirement to Durão since April). We will describe the enunciative operations underlying this linguistic construction in order to sustain and better understand the discursive effect of controversial contraposition associated with it and thus contribute to the description of online language practices, in particular the commentary.
