Abstract: This paper aims to highlight the importance of associating Translation Studies with Linguistics, when it comes to looking at translation revision from a broader perspective. As set out in the standards that regulate the provision of translation services, revision is currently a mandatory activity within the translation process and plays a significant role in the translation industry. Taking into account the entry into force of the International Standard EN ISO 17100, which replaces the European Standard EN 15038, this article examines these two normative documents with regard to revision issues and text-linguistic topics. The analysis intends to explore the possible implications of the standards for both training and professional practice, given the socio-professional invisibility of the revision activity in Portugal.
