The success factors of mergers and acquisitions in Europe

Abstract

This research aims to test previously discovered M&A success factors and highlight others that maybe crucial forthe deal’s success. Targeting a general perception of these factors,I performed a macro-analysis reflecting the context of a country and a micro-analysis encompassing the deal features and the companies involved. On the one hand, macro-analysis empirically verifies that factors such as economic growth, capital market liquidity, tax incidence, vocational training,and technological investment are significant for success. On the other, micro-analysis provided a guideline for success by discovering a dynamic set of factors that varies depending on the deal’s purpose.
