Comunicação de Ciência interdisciplinar: Um plano de comunicação para as Unidades de Investigação do ISCTE-IUL

Abstract

O acesso do público ao conhecimento cientifico tem vindo a ser uma crescente preocupação. A ciência é a base fundamental na formação de um indivíduo, tendo um papel fulcral no seu desenvolvimento, nomeadamente na tomada de decisões, quer sejam individuais, quer sejam coletivas. Recentemente a comunicação de ciência passou a ser uma prioridade nas instituições científicas e unidades de investigação. Tem sido, assim, crescente a relação entre o público e a ciência, aumentando as iniciativas que tem como finalidade aproximar a ciência do público. Embora seja aos investigadores que cabe a tarefa de produzir e de divulgar o conhecimento científico, os comunicadores de ciência ganharam um papel fundamental nas instituições científicas, são eles que fazem a ligação entre os investigadores, a comunicação social e o público. Apesar deste crescimento da comunicação de ciência, existem ainda algumas lacunas a colmatar em algumas instituições científicas e unidades de investigação e que suscitaram o desenvolvimento deste projeto. Caracterizando-se o ISCTE-IUL como uma research university, existem algumas falhas a nível comunicacional entre os investigadores, sendo que a falta de comunicação entre eles foi umas das falhas percecionadas, logo à partida. Este trabalho teve como objeto de estudo as oito unidades de investigação do ISCTE-IUL e a interdisciplinaridade entre elas. O conceito de interdisciplinaridade é fundamental no ensino e na investigação e surgiu aqui como uma forma de colmatar a falta de comunicação e a troca de informações, que existe entre os investigadores dos diferentes centros de investigação e das diferentes áreas. O projeto de investigação foi desenvolvido com base num questionário a todos os investigadores das oito unidades de investigação, onde foi possível perceber quais as fragilidades existentes e qual a opinião dos mesmos acerca da falta de interdisciplinaridade entre eles. Com este projeto de investigação pretendemos colmatar essas falhas, criando novas ferramentas de trabalho que permitam superar as dificuldades encontradas pelos investigadores, bem como conceber ferramentas que levem os investigadores a colaborar mais entre si e a divulgarem os seus trabalhos de investigação entre todos. No presente projeto de investigação propõe-se um plano de comunicação para as oitos unidades, com ações a serem desenvolvidas e implementadas de forma a aumentar a interdisciplinaridade entre os investigadores e a melhorar a comunicação entre todos.

Public access to scientific knowledge has been an area of growing concern. Science is the fundamental basis in the formation of individuals, playing a central role in their development, namely in decision making, whether individual or collective. Recently, the science communication has become a priority for scientific institutions and research units. The relationship between the general public and science has leading to a growth in the number of initiatives aimed at bringing science closer to the public. The role of researchers is to produce and disseminate scientific knowledge. However, science communicators have been playing a key role in scientific institutions, since they promote the link between researchers, the media and the public. Despite this growth in science communication, scientific institution and research units still face, some gaps which need to be addressed, and led to the development of the current research project. ISCTE-IUL is well known as a research university. Nevertheless, some communication failures between researchers can be identified. Indeed, the lack of communication between researchers was one of the first perceived shortcomings. The eight research units of ISCTE-IUL are investigated, namely regarding the interdisciplinarity. In fact, the concept of interdisciplinarity is crucial as far as teaching and research are concerned. It has emerged as a way of bridging the lack of communication sharing among researchers of the various research units and knowledge areas. The current project was based on a survey conducted among the researchers of the eight research units. Based on the collected results it was possible to understand existing fragilities, as well as researchers opinions concerning the lack of interdisciplinarity on their joint activities. This research project aims to addressing existing flaws and creating new work tools that allow us to overcome the difficulties encountered by ISCTE-IUL researchers. Additionally tools were developed to stimulate researchers of the various research units to collaborate more closely and to disseminate the results of their joint research. A communication plan for the eight research units of ISCTE-IUL is proposed with specific activities to be developed and implemented in order to increase interdisciplinarity and to improve communication among ISCTE-IUL researchers.
