Economia e sociedade no Alentejo quinhentista através de um tombo da Misericórdia de Montemor-o-Novo

Abstract

This article is about the economy, the society and the preponderant mentality in one area of the Alentejo, along the sixteenth century. It is based on a book of the Misericórdia of Montemor-o-Novo, begined in 1560, in which had been registered the institution’s properties, as well as their spiritual obligations. O artigo procura caraterizar a economia, a sociedade e a mentalidade predominantes numa parte do Alentejo quinhentista, com base no tombo da Misericórdia de Montemor-o-Novo iniciado em 1560, em que foram registados os bens da instituição, assim como as obrigações espirituais que a propriedade dos mesmos implicava.
