O jornalismo local e as novas tecnologias: o caso português

Com o boom das novas tecnologias ao longo das últimas décadas, o jornalismo encontrou novas formas de se apresentar, desenvolver e reinventar, tendo à sua disposição ferramentas que permitem criar uma relação com o público como nunca tinha sido possível. O jornalismo local, no entanto, parece continuar a ser o “parente pobre” desta área, ao qual os novos desafios exigem mais criatividade e esforço no sentido de os transformar em novas potencialidades de crescimento.
O presente trabalho de projeto centra-se, pois, no impacto das novas tecnologias no jornalismo local, com destaque para o contexto português. Nesse sentido, a análise das principais tendências de projetos jornalísticos em ambiente digital e um inquérito aplicado junto da população deram origem a um protótipo de website de notícias sobre o concelho de Vila Franca de Xira.
For the last decades, new technologies boom gave journalism new ways to present and develop itself, as well as new possibilities of reinvention that allowed it to develop a new relation with the audience as it was never seen before. However, it still seems that local journalism is the “ugly duckling” of this area, with these new challenges asking for more creativity and effort, in the way to make them new possibilities of expansion and development. This project work is about the impact of new technologies in local journalism, with special highlight in the Portuguese context. In this respect, the prototype of a local news website for Vila Franca de Xira is the result of the analysis of the main trends of digital journalistic projects and a survey applied to the inhabitants of that county.
