Antroponímia na Língua Cokwe

Abstract

O presente trabalho insere-se no domínio da Lexicologia e da Onomástica e aborda essencialmente a Antroponímia da língua Cokwe. Com este estudo, pretendemos estudar a realidade antroponímica da Lunda-Norte, mais concretamente a do município do Chitato. O nome antroponímico apresenta-se como testemunho de uma época; nessa medida, assume um papel importante para a compreensão da formação e consolidação de uma sociedade bem como dos valores ao longo do tempo, de acordo com a realidade histórico-cultural de cada região. Com este estudo, queremos não apenas dar o nosso contributo para o conhecimento da realidade antroponímica da região, mas também propor algumas grafias para a harmonização dos antropónimos da língua Cokwe. Do ponto de vista metodológico, adoptámos o método descritivo, isto é, procedemos à análise descritiva dos antropónimos, com base num corpus seleccionado. A constituição do corpus baseou-se num levantamento realizado no município de Chitato, especialmente no Cartório de Registo Civil, e teve como principal objectivo identificar a grafia dos nomes, os significados que lhes estão associados e as circunstâncias em que os nomes são atribuídos à criança.

The present work is part of the onomastic domain andit addresses the anthroponymy of the Cokwe language. With this work, we intend to study the anthroponymic reality of Lunda-Norte, more precisely in the municipality of Chitato. The name presents itself as a testimony of an era; for this reason, it plays an important role in the understanding of the formation and the consolidation of a society, as well as its values over time, according to the historical and cultural reality of each region. Thus, we want not only to contribute to the understanding of the onomastic reality of the region, but also to propose some spellings to standardize the anthroponyms of the Cokwe language. From the methodological point of view, we adopted the descriptive method, that is, we did a descriptive analysis of the anthroponyms according to a selected corpus. The constitution of the corpus based on a survey carried out in the municipality of Chitato, especially in the civil registry. The main objective was to identify the spelling of the names, the meaning associated with them and the circumstance in which the names are attributed to the child.
