This work has as its theme the study of Romanesque sculpture profane nature in Portugal and understanding of the represented iconography. The Romanesque ornamental sculpture has numerous of different studies but not all areas are sufficiently studied thus we investigate in order to give the most varied answers, to the profane iconography that have been neglected for too long the proper care and understanding on the part of historiography art. For your understanding we had to conduct an investigation taking into account the "century" delay compared to what was done in France, Italy and Spain. The Romanesque art in Portugal resulted in an artistic way with "nationalizing" traits, where the work of foreign and national craftsmen as well as the chosen models, can be seen on the walls of churches, an exclusively Portuguese art even when it encounters iconographic parallels in other countries. Keywords: Ornamental Sculpture, Romanesque iconography, Profane, Nationality, Lust, Imaginary, Festivity.
