A mitologia africana e representações do feminino em O Alegre Canto da Perdiz de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa a presença da mitologia e as representações mitológicas do feminino na obra O Alegre Canto da Perdiz da escritora moçambicana Paulina Chiziane. Nesta obra, a autora usa mitos de origem matriarcal como uma forma de suscitar reflexões sobre a condição e o lugar que mulheres moçambicanas, e por extensão africanas, ocupam nas sociedades. Os mitos presentes na obra foram recolhidos da tradição oral moçambicana, por isso a análise que fazemos busca também compreender como a autora procura manter viva a sua matriz cultural, preservá-la e estar em permanente diálogo com a mesma. Ademais, na obra, a presença do mito tanto permite refletir sobre a condição sociocultural das mulheres como permite pensar sobre as próprias origens de Moçambique. Assim, analisamos igualmente como a autora tece relações entre a mitologia, as vozes femininas centrais do enredo e a história do seu país. Buscamos entender como a obra espelha momentos históricos importantes pelos quais Moçambique passou, por exemplo a escravatura e a colonização e que conflitos e fragmentações identitárias daí resultaram, por meio das vivências das personagens femininas centrais, nomeadamente Serafina, Delfina, Maria das Dores e Maria Jacinta. Acreditamos que através das trajetórias femininas, na obra, a autora evidencia as dinâmicas de poder em sociedades patriarcais que teimam em subalternizar as mulheres; reflete sobre as formas e estratégias de resistência que as mulheres desenvolvem para subsistir em contextos adversos; instiga as mulheres a mobilizarem-se e a tomarem as rédeas do seu caminho; e propõe olhar para as raízes culturais como fonte de referências na construção do ser e estar no mundo

This work analyzes the presence of mythology and the mythological representations of the feminine in the novel O Alegre Canto da Perdiz by Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane. In the novel, the author uses myths of matriarchal origin as a way of raising reflections on the condition and place that Mozambican women, and by extension African women, occupy in societies. The myths present in the novel were collected from the Mozambican oral tradition, so the analysis we carry out also seeks to understand how the author seeks to keep her cultural matrix alive, preserve it and be in permanent dialogue with it. Furthermore, in the novel, the presence of myth both allows us to reflect on the sociocultural condition of women and also allows us to think about the origins of Mozambique itself. Thus, we also analyze how the author weaves relationships between mythology, the central female voices of the plot and the history of her country. We seek to understand how the novel mirrors important historical moments that Mozambique went through, for example slavery and colonization and which conflicts and identity fragmentations resulted from this, through the experiences of the central female characters, namely Delfina, Serafina, Maria das Dores and Maria Jacinta. We believe that through female trajectories in the novel, the author highlights the dynamics of power in patriarchal societies that insist on subordinating women; reflects on the forms and strategies of resistance that women develop to survive in adverse contexts; encourages women to mobilize and take control of their trajectory and proposes looking at cultural roots as a source of reference in the construction of being and living in the world.
