A dor da existência, o que é o Ser, a consciência, o livre arbítrio são questões abordadas
e aprofundadas após a segunda metade do século XX por inúmeros filósofos. Embora
tenham sido exploradas com mais rigor pelos existencialistas, trata-se, na verdade, de
interrogações comuns a todos os seres humanos. A obra Húmus de Raul Brandão
inscreve-se neste horizonte de reflexões, embora o antecipe, em certa medida. Neste
sentido, a presente dissertação, será discorrido se o escritor português pode ser
considerado como um antecessor do existencialismo, que teremos ignorado até agora.
The pain of existence, what Being is, consciousness and free will are questions that have been addressed and deepened by countless philosophers since the second half of the 20th century. Although they were explored more rigorously by the existentialists, they are in fact questions common to all human beings. Raul Brandão's Húmus is part of this horizon of reflections, although it anticipates it to a certain extent. In this sense, this dissertation will discuss whether the Portuguese writer can be considered a predecessor of existentialism, which we have ignored until now.
