This study took place within the AMPERE+CT project - Mining Archaeology and Electrical Heritage as Educational Resources plus Culture and Tourism aimed at rehabilitating and enhancing the value of the Museu Mineiro do Lousal, which made it possible to diagnose the museum's exhibition component and provided conditions to develop an approach to Geology as a museographic pole, adding it to the set that constitutes the core of the exhibitions. The new exhibition component focuses on a museographic proposal based on the work of the geologist Günter Strauss and aims to highlight his scientific and heritage legacy, as a collaborator of the "Geological Services of the Lousal mine". The new exhibition will include material from the Mining Museum's collection used in geological exploration and reconnaissance work in the Lousal area, as well as laboratory equipment and documents from the geology collection. Thus, the local and educational community and the general public will benefit from new exhibition contents, emphasizing the social and human component on which the MML mission is based.
