Questões de Género em Contexto Anticolonial: Mulheres na Luta de Libertação Nacional de Angola

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como objeto a história da participação feminina na luta de libertação nacional de Angola. Neste sentido, pretende mostrar-se que essa participação se desenrolou em várias áreas, tal como enfrentou múltiplos desafios – tanto pelo seu sexo, como pela sua raça. Pretende-se, igualmente, compreenderse – ao lutarem pela causa independentista – lutaram também, de forma consciente, pela sua emancipação. Para tal, recorrer-se-á a testemunhos recolhidos através da História Oral como principal fonte a analisar. Complementar-se-ão esses testemunhos com fontes documentais. Serão, ainda, utilizadas três obras maiores da literatura angolana – escritas por autores cuja obra constitui uma reflexão poderosa sobre as facetas “heroicas”, mas também contraditórias e sinuosas da luta de libertação nacional –, cujas personagens constituem figuras que misturam diferentes personalidades reais, ou são mesmo diretamente inspiradas em certas mulheres. Procurar-se-á, por fim, perceber a razão pela qual, durante décadas, as questões de género em contexto anticolonial não foram objeto de estudo aprofundado.

The present dissertation has as its object the history of female participation in Angola's national liberation struggle. In this sense, it’s intended to show that this participation took place in several areas, as it faced multiple challenges – both for its sex and for its race. It is also intended to understand if – when fighting for the independentist cause – they also consciously fought for their emancipation. To this end, testimonies collected through Oral History will be used as the main source to be analysed. These testimonies will be complemented with documentary sources. Three major works of Angolan literature will also be used – written by authors whose work constitutes a powerful reflection of the "heroic", but also contradictory and sinuous facets of the national liberation struggle –, whose characters are figures that mix different real personalities, or are even directly inspired by certain women. Finally, we’ll try to understand why, for decades, gender issues in an anti-colonial context were not the object of in-depth study.
