O presente relatório tem como objetivo relatar a experiência de estágio na RWS, dando conta do funcionamento e dos procedimentos da empresa, com especial enfoque na pós-edição, que é utilizada em praticamente todos os projetos. A par da descrição de como me integrei na equipa de Life Sciences da empresa, pretendo ainda analisar algumas problemáticas recorrentes da tradução na área em apreço. Para além disto, tendo em conta o que observei e realizei durante o estágio, quis fazer uma comparação entre o desempenho de um motor de tradução automática que está adaptado a um domínio em específico, neste caso as ciências da vida, e que conta ainda com o auxílio de ferramentas como as memórias de tradução, com dois dos motores de tradução automática que se encontram online e de forma gratuita, alimentados de forma indiscriminada e sem contextualização.
This report aims to describe the internship experience at RWS, reporting on the way it functions and the procedures of the company, focusing on post-editing, which is used in almost every project. Besides the description of my work in the company’s Life Sciences team, I also seek to analyze some of the problems of translation in this area. Furthermore, given what I observed and did over the course of the internship, I wanted to make a comparison between the performance of a machine translation engine which is adapted to a specific domain, in this case, to life sciences, and also has the help of tools such as translation memories, with two of the machine translation engines that can be found online for free, which are fed indiscriminately and have no access to context.
