O presente relatório visa descrever, numa primeira parte, o estágio curricular realizado na empresa que me acolheu de setembro a novembro de 2021, a RWS. Será feita uma breve apresentação da empresa, bem como do trabalho que foi realizado ao longo dos três meses de estágio. Durante o período de estágio fiz parte de uma equipa de tradução encarregada de traduções relacionadas com a indústria automóvel, área que irá ser abordada na segunda parte deste relatório. Na terceira e última parte, de natureza mais teórica, irei desenvolver os temas de tradução, terminologia e pós-edição, explicando os seus conceitos e características. O foco deste trabalho encontra-se na pós-edição de traduções com NMT na área da indústria automóvel. No final do último capítulo, irei falar sobre a tradução automática, mais propriamente a NMT. Este é um tópico bastante discutido nos dias de hoje, e os tradutores (e estudiosos) apresentam opiniões diferentes em relação à sua utilização. Serão também apresentados e analisados alguns exemplos de tradução com NMT retirados de projetos que realizei ao longo do estágio, e as respetivas pós-edições.
The present report aims to describe, in the first part, the curricular internship carried out in the company that welcomed me from September to November 2021, RWS. I will briefly introduce the company, as well as the work performed during the three months of internship. During the internship period I was part of a translation team in charge of translations related to the automotive industry, an area that will be addressed in the second part of this report. In the third and last part, which is of a more theoretical nature, I will develop the topics of translation, terminology and post-editing, explaining their concepts and characteristics. The focus of this report lies on the post-editing of translations with NMT in the automotive industry. At the end of the last chapter, I will be discussing machine translation, specifically NMT. This is a hot topic these days, and translators (and researchers) have different opinions regarding its use. Furthermore, some examples of translation with NMT, extracted from projects that I carried out during my internship, and their respective post-editions, will be presented and analyzed.
