A tradução técnica é um dos mercados mais importantes da área da tradução, sendo o mais procurado pelos clientes, quer se destine ao público em geral, como no caso de manuais de instruções ou rótulos, quer se destine a clientes individuais, como sucede com certidões de nascimento ou diplomas. O presente relatório descreve a experiência da estagiária numa empresa de tradução – Multilingual Europe – que se especializa em tradução técnica, pelo que irá abordar como é trabalhar numa empresa de tradução, como este tipo de empresa se organiza e quais os métodos de trabalho utilizados. Além disso, irá apresentar algumas das tarefas realizadas durante o estágio, identificando as dificuldades e problemas encontrados no processo de tradução, bem como as soluções escolhidas para os mesmos.
Technical translation is one of the most important markets of the translation industry, being the most demanded one by the clients. Either if the translation is aimed to the general public, for instance instruction manuals or product labels, or if it is aimed to individual clients, for example birth certificates or diplomas. This report will describe the intern’s experience at a translation company – Multilingual Europe – which specialises in technical translation and will focus on how it is to work in a translation company, how this type of company is organized and what kind of work methods were used. In addition, it will discuss some of the tasks done during the internship while indicating the difficulties and problems found in the translation process, as well as their solutions.
