Resumo: "Parkinson Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta of the brain, which is often accompanied by the abnormal aggregation of a-synuclein, forming Lewy bodies. Although the etiology of PD remains to be fully elucidated, there are several causes underlying this disease, which are known to play an important role. Among these, the activation of microglia towards a proinflammatory phenotype, fueled by disruption of heme metabolism, stands out.(...)"
